Wendy O. Williams will be inducted in to the Rochester Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, April 24th.
A recent formal announcement reads:
We are pleased to announce that the selection committee of the Rochester Music Hall of Fame has elected to induct WENDY O WILLIAMS for her lifetime of work as a professional musician, into The Rochester Music Hall of Fame, class of 2016. This is our 5th year and it will be at an All-Star Gala held at the prestigious Eastman Theater on Sunday, April 24th, 2016.
In addition to the Wendy’s induction, other inductions this year include: jazz artist Joe Locke; James Brown musical director and legendary funk sax player, Pee Wee Ellis, classical conductor/ composer Howard Hanson, James Rado who co-wrote the musical HAIR!, as well as the The Rustix the first white act signed to Motown.
Our earlier inductees include: Cab Calloway, Chuck Mangione, Son House, Gene Cornish of The Rascals, Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Ron Carter, William Warfield, Wilmer Alexander & The Dukes, Charles Strouse (author of ANNIE & BYE BYE BIRDIE); Don Potter & Bat McGrath; The House of Guitars, David Hochstein and others.
